This study of personality in relation to appearance is known as Visagism.
There are four main ‘Smile Styles’
The proportion of your smile can allegedly make a difference to personality and how you feel. According to the Visagism theory our brain ‘understands’ the appearance of others on a subconscious level, as we analyse their different facial components and ‘translate’ them into an emotional representation. If you have ever referred to someone who has ‘a kind face’ then you have acknowledged the Visagism theory. This theory is also acknowledged by young children and babies as they will often respond positively to individuals with ‘warm’ or comforting features. When it comes to your smile and what the shape and alignment of your teeth mean there are four different types: oval, triangular, rectangular and square.
